pioneer dvr-220 dvd recorder

    ok so i got the device and what happened waz when i recorded a vhs "gone with the wind" it looked like it waz fine because i played on the recorder, but when i go to play it on any other device it doesnt even read the disk,another thing, the device wont take dvd+r only some, dvd-r has anybody else had this kind of problem and a way to fix it , or a suggestion for a better dvd recorder?

    It's something that happens with standalone recorders.
    I have a Gateway recorder. Whatever I record on there, to dvd, won't play in my Pioneer dvd player, or my computer drives (2 of them). But it does play on a $30 Magnavox dvd player, of my stepfather's.

    Also, don't forget........ using DVD+R discs, you'll probably need to manually finalize the disc, before it will play in another player.
