Does anyone know the difference between the Pioneer DVR-A07XL and Pioneer DVR-107? I assume the bit A07 in the name refers to the retail version but its the XL at the end that I don't get.

    Cheers

You are quite right. The 107/107D is the OEM version of A07. The A07XL is the same drive BUT has a different chassis (honeycomb construction to make it quieter) and front bezel. IMHO it looks a lot smarter. It is available in Beige and Black and only in retail pack and not OEM bare drive. In the UK anyway the beige version is available but the black version is not available for another 6 weeks. The pack also gets bundled with Pinnacle Instant CD/DVD.

Yeah, they gave the front of it a wee make-over, but to be honest, looks and sounds dont bother me at all. I always buy the better value DVR107 Bare.

True - however wife acceptance factor is a major influence in my house - definitely worth the extra pennies

Thanks guys. That's cleared things up. Does the honeycomb design really have a big impact on noise?
