I have a dual slim drive setup in my desktop by making use of 2 50-pin-to-SATA adapter.

One of the drives, the Panasonic UJ875, is working perfectly and recognized by Vista immediately. The Pioneer DVR-K06, however, does not appear anywhere, not in Explorer or Device Manager.
I have tried swapping the cable, same. Strange thing is the driver can actually be seen in BIOS. I also tried to connect the drive through a SATA-to-USB cable (after through the adapter), and the drive IS recognized. Device manager says its a PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K06RS USB Device.
Any one know how to make it work directly through SATA to the motherboard?

Anyone? If you've used this drive and have problems seeing the drive even though you're not using an adapter reply too and let me know how you resolved the problem
For a quick question, for dual SATA drives in general, I just connect the drives to any different SATA connectors on the MB, right? Any settings needed?

Update: In BIOS, I notice that for the UJ875 I can set the "type" to be "CDROM" or "AMRD" or "Not Installed", but not for the Pioneer. Is it possible that the motherboard is seeing the drive but not realizing it is an optical drive? The motherboard is an Asus M3A78-EM. Thanks
