Thought I'd take a chance and see if anyone knows about my problem. I have a Pioneer Elite Reciver I got in 1993 and the left channel seems to be out. I've swapped speakers and put the right speaker on the left side and still no sound coming out. This is the case when playing a dvd or my cd changer. I have a Tweeter store near me in Charlotte, NC and he said it would be $50 for them to even look at it. My dad helped me pay for it and it's sentimental so I'd like to get it fixed. What should I do? Is it cheap to fix?

What happens when you use the tuner? Are DVD and CD two different units of the same unit? When you switched the speakers around, did you check to make sure the connection of the speaker wire to the receiver was solid and that no stray bits of wire were sticking out from the connection?

for what it will cost you to repair this unit you could buy a new pioneer receiver for example pioneer VSX515 sells for around 229.00 it is 5.1 dolby digital it has 110 watts per channel if you look around you can get it for less than 200.00
