I have a bunch of clips that are in Windows Media Audio/Video file format and I would like to burn them to a dvd and be able to play them on a standard dvd player. I am pretty sure this is possible but I don't know how. Do I need a certain program to convert the files? Any help or guidance would be greatly appreaciated.
Well the problem most Poeple Face with Putting WMV Files on to DVD is that Most WMV Files use a Very Low Resolution (320x240) and when it is Resized to the Standard DVD Resolution (720x480) the Quality gets Totally Destroyed.... The Solution to this is to not use the Standard DVD Resolution but to use one of the Other Valid DVD Resolutions Like 352x480 or 352x240... So if your WMV files are Low resolution WMV files then I suggest that you First Get a Good Standalone Mpeg-2 encoder Like "Tmpgenc"(Free For 30 days) to encode your WMV Files to Mpeg-2 at 352x240 For NTSC or 352x288 for Pal with a Bitrate of between 1500kbs and 2000kbs.... At this Bitrate you should be able to get between 4 and 6 hours of Video on a DVD with Better than VCD quality..... Once you have your Files encoded to Mpeg-2 useing the Above Resolution and Bitrate settings you will need to use a DVD authoring Program to Put the Files on to DVD with Menu"s and Chapters... A Good and easy to use DVD Authoring program is "Tmpgenc DVD Author" (Free For 30 Days) with will Let you Make a Basic Menu and scene selections and add Chapter Points to your Movie and it will Format it all Into a "Video_TS" Folder which it will then Burn to DVD Or you can use a seperate Program to Burn the "Video_TS" Folder to DVD.. Just Make sure you Burn your DVD"s at the Lowest speed Possible so you don"t get Burn errors which will Prevent Proper Playback of the DVD on your DVD Player....
