Hi I am indeed a newbie. Got the burner, dvds and a few software programs. I just successfully burned my first backup, using FabDVD,It plays wonderfully on my computer but my home unit...a mintek 2110 reports only no disc or other error messages. Do I need to set s special switch in Fab dvd (remove enhanced region code, etc.) or is this my home dvd unit. This forum is great!!!

can give a definate answer to this but here's a few thoughts.......

    1) does your stand alone player support the type of media you are burning (i.e. dvd-r dvd+r), not all players support both or any for that matter.

    2) what sort of blank media are you using as most playback problems are down to cheap crappy media (i'd strongly advise ritek g04)

    3) if you have Nero, then the popular chain of thought around these parts is download DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink. both are free (and can be found by clicking the home tab at the top of the screen)

let us know how you get on......and welcome to the club

Thanx for the response. I am using DVDFAb and DVD+R from Ultra (25 bulk pack). I thought component DVD players layed both formats? Newbie strikes again. I have a Mintek 2110. Is there any sites anyone can recommend to find out compatibility of players? Thanx again. JJ

Here's just one of many sites re: DVD Compatibility:

I did a quick search on your Mintec, and it's supposed to support pretty much any media. Viper6699 is right. Get some high quality media (I use Ritek with no issues), and give it a re-try. Sounds like you're doing everything else right.
