Until recently i used WinDVD to play back my media files, however having just used Windows media player for the first time it seems to have screwed up the files so that now the older files will only play almost like negatives, the screen is filled with blues/re and green and is virtually indistinguishable. No matter if i use media player or WinDVD. Help someone ;-)
First thing to do is simply uninstall WinDVD, then re-install it. Chances are if you haven't made any system changes then this should do the trick.
