I don't know why this happens, but I play avi files all the time with no problem, but there have been a few avi files that shut down every player I use to watch them about 5 seconds after I open the file. I've tried to use programs to fix the files but even the fixed versions don't play. I've tried using several players but none work. Can anyone help me out?

I used Video Fixer. Is Divfix better?

I have the Nimo codec pack installed.

I've used Windows Media Player, RealPlayer and DivX Player.

remove the Nimo codec pack and install only

    Divx codec
    Xvid codec
    ffdshow
    Ac3Filter
