Hello, I'm kind of a n00b at managing mkv, so I'm having a problem with lag on this 1080p file i have.
I'm using window media player classic with ffdshow and it lags every few seconds.
I have almost 3G accessible RAM and a new 2.1 dual core processor.
Is there any way to run the mkv smoothly without compromising the quality? (I.e. I would rather not convert it to a smaller resolution)

I have run another mkv file flawlessly before, and I don't understand why this one won't work.
    Thoughts please!!!

VLC uses less cpu than MPC, try it.
And it too was 1080p MKV?

Run one that works thru MediaInfo and check the specs vs. the one that doesn't for clues/differences.

Vid cards that hardware decode, like the ATI HD series, are more important than RAM and cpu speed.
