Playing AVI, Need Codecs, and Help FOURCC "h264"

Hey, i downloaded a movie, which seems to be a dvd rip. its saved as a AVI file, it dont play on WMP 10 just the sound i can hear. I played it in DIVX player and it says "the flie contains following of data"

Video data FOURCC code "h264"

I looked this up, and tried to download the codecs but have no luck. im kinda a beginer at this so i dont kno what im doing lol

You would need ffdshow or coreavc.

 

Thanx, i dowloaded it, but i dont know how to really use it. i meen how do u load the video/file onto it?.i read the read me file but didnt really help. when i play it on WMP10 it just plays the sound, no picture. does this help?.

WMP10 is a dshow based player. Once you have a compatible dshow filter installed, it should just work.

 

Oh ok, well i play it on WMP10 and it still is the same, it says requesing codec, then error downloading codec.

 

Then you don't have a compatible dshow decoder installed. Either should work fine, if properly installed.

Try mplayer or VLC.
