I went searching around for methods of playing my own background music on the PS3 while playing a game (some games have horrible background music) and saw that sony officially supports it, but only on compatible games... so here are my questions: 1. What games are compatible with it? 2. Any other methods to play my own music while playing a game that doesnt support the playing of user issued music?
1.) http://www.psu.com/forums/showthread.php?t=191889 That's as good as I've seen. 2.) Seems like the only way to do that would be to connect your music to its own player, turn off the audio on the PS3, turn on the audio on the music player. Voila. The only reason why you can't play your own music on games that don't support it is because Microsoft copyrighted that feature - yep, copyrighted the ability to play music using the hardware. Sony can still do it, but only through the software - ie games and the like.
and killzone 2 (only MP), burnout, and i think warhawk. I have a old Sony stereo that allows you to mix music from one input with what the PS is playing so I just turn the music down to zero in-game and have my music playing off a iPod or cd.
These support in game music KillZone 2 Wipeout HD Burnout Street Fighter 4 Super Stardust HD Pain High Velocity Bowling Several Others The only games that I know work with in game music using the xmb are Super Stardust, Warhawk, Street Fighter, and Killzone
