I got a executor 2.3 modchip and I have Evolution X for my dashboard. When i try to play dvds (original or burnt) it won't start up. every time i try to boot it just stops and returns to the evox page. Please help.

What are you trying to play them with the msdash?

Get something called dvdx dongle free if you don't have the dvd playback kit.

    wassup...

    ok..
i think i know what your problem is..
    your evox.ini on your xbox...

the evox.ini is the configuration file for evolution x dashboard... it lets you setup your networking, files, menus, blah, blah (i assume you know this much..) for evolution x dashboard...

to edit it, you'll need to be able to ftp to it.
then open it on your pc in notepad, and look for these two things:

    -AutoLaunchDVD
    -DVDPlayer

i would turn the autolaunchdvd to = NO
but as for the DVDPlayer setting, this points to where your dvd player program is..

so if you are trying to use the ms dongle kit (factory dvd kit), you have to point your dvdplayer to your msdashboard (usually c:\xboxdash.xbe ) but if you have dvdx2 installed on your hd, you'll need to point this link to where it is (ie for me it is f:\apps\dvdx2\default.xbe since it is on my f drive..)

    hope that helps..
    peace

Hey everyone, is there a way you can set the xbox to play region 3 dvd's? Can I do it from the original dashboard if I have it chipped or do I need to instal evoX. I'm a little wary of installing evoX and losing my original dash. Thanks a million:)

You don't lose the original dash you just get an alternative dash that boots with your bios. You can have as many dashes as you want. And you always keep you msdash.

? so how would I switch from one to the other? All the tutorials i've read talks about backing up the dashboard so you can reinstall it. Thanks everyone:)

    @bigredase
do you have an msdash on your c drive?

@Burnzilla both dashes can go on the c drive or you could run evox off another drive(if you want) but when you disable your chip(What chip you got?) it would load on board bios and go to ms dash if you boot with your hacked bios you flashed with it should boot evox, and if you wanted you could go to ms dash via evox options or boxplorer or however you want.

And you should back up your original c drive just in case anything EVER goes wrong. Just so you can start over.

bigredase>> My guess is that you don't have a file called xboxdash.xbe on your C:\. You probably have msxboxdash.xbe or something like that. You'll need it to be xboxdash.xbe for it to load up without the mod chip on.
