As from my question you can tell I am a total novice. I have a GeForce 8800GTS video card. I would like to know: 1. are there HD-DVD players made for computers 2. If so, can it be played on a standard LCD monitor. In short, if I want to play HD's on my computer, what do I need to do. Dell Precision 690, 3.7GHz Xeon processor, 6Gb RAM, GeForce 8800GTS graphic card, Sound Blaster Fatal1ty sound card. thanks, Ronney
Yes you can install HD-DVD on your PC. The link below will guide you about the procedure in details. http://uneasysilence.com/archive/2006/11/8303/
You don't have to take the xbox 360 hd dvd drive apart. Your video card is definately HD compliant. If your running Vista the driver will automatically install. Not sure if your monitor is compliant. I'm using this monitor. My setup has been pretty much plug and play with Cyberlink Power dvd ultra used as the software player.
Is there any free software that will play HD DVD's on the computer?? Cyberlink PowerDVD is $100, I don't really wanna pay that if I don't have to. I have the Xbox 360 HD add on and the CPU recognizes it, but I don't have any software yet to play it.
