I installed daemon tools, mounted all the Quake 4 images but when I click the quake 4 icon to start the game, the game's screen come up and when I press play a message comes up saying that I need to "insert Quake 4 (TM) DVD". what's wrong and what can I do to fix it? (quake 4 appears to be in the DVD drive.)
More than likely this is another game that has a "Black-listing" that annoys most people. The fastest thing to do is look for a patch that can let it run without a DVD. Just make a Google search, or go to www.megagames.com and go the section "Fixes" off the left side and go to "PC Games". Look for the "Q" section at the top and go to Quake 4 when you get there. What you're looking for is a what they call a "Game Fix", which is the patch. Look for a "No-CD" fix. You could also look for the "Trainers" that are there, which are used to place in cheats. Late.
You can either do what Rikoshay said or you can search for a tool called SafeDisc4 Hider. I've found it works flawlessly with my backed up images that have safe disc 4 copy protection (COD2 & Quake 4) I've even installed the games using the backed up images and SafeDisc4 Hider. Just search on google or something. Peace
it's on google. Just type in the exact thing (SafeDisc 4 Hider) Would you know by any change how to make use of it? Because it did not solve the problem in the original thread.
You know, if you just get the patch for your version of Quake 4, then you could have easliy solved this problem a while ago. if you haven't updated it with a patch yet, just get the original patch for it, whatever it's called, you need to figure that part out.

Well, first off, if those are your real serial numbers, I would remove them immediatly. Second, try to find [bold]your OWN cd key[/bold] If it doesn't work, then try to order one. Yeah, right! Were you able to actually install it? I didn't really see you mention that. If that's what's keeping you from finishing, just look do some more googling or something.

whoa boys. no-cd patches are one thing, [bold]posting serial numbers and using the words 'cracked' and 'keygen' are not on[/bold]. gonna have to edit a lot of replies here
Thanks for trying to answer my question, but this didn't help at all. I needed a specific answer but unforunatly I cannot get one here. Therefore, I have come to conclusions that there is no use in continuing this theat and even being a member of this forum.
I install the game Quake 4 with no hitches so far and install the no-CD fix but everyone I talk to now says the game will start up fine and play the famouse Raven pre-scene with the bird's eye showing and then flying but then it eventually goes to a screen that says INVALID CD KEY and forces you to re-enter a CD key even though the one I entered worked fine when I installed the game. Can anyone help me fix this problem? Why would the CD key work to install but not upon loading to play and how can I wokr around this or crack it?
