NO they didn't.What they said was they would work with(sorta) independent developers,non licenses,and homebrew.That is NOT modding.

Sony is not going to help you mod and hack ps3.

Game mods and hardware mods are two totally different things.

 

nobody is, but when i said modding in this case i ment homebrew.

 

So whats their plan to distribute hombrew content? They have to be carefull themselve because if they're not they could be the ones to show us exactly how to hack the ps3

 

It's like this sony won't be distributing homebrew in stores or anything.It's up to the homebrew publisher to make it available.It will be downloadable and easy to get.Probably right from sony's online service.

 

Which is another reason sony's online service being free rocks.

 

yeah but if you can distribute homebrew content it's possible to distribute pirated content as well. I know sony will have tight locks on that so wont distribute it on their service. Still you might just be able to downlaod game on your pc and then some how ftp them to your ps3 hdd without it knowing the difference. Just a thought.

 

Btw ty too bad the pro ps3 thead closed. This theard is shaping up to be quite pro ps3 so we could use it

 

u cant ftp with the ps2, what makes you think you can on ps3? i tried and it started working, but it asked me for a special password to connect that i did not know, nor could find or figure out.

 

Yeah you can ftp to ps2 it's easy it just takes long

Sony will have policies and regulate everything that goes in and out of it's online service...You won't be able to upload pirated stuff and therefore you won't be able to download it.

Homebrew will be allowed on sony's service, pirated stuff won't.

 

O h yeah I forgot .It does suck that the pro ps3 thread was closed but anubis's was too so I feel bad for him because it was the most successful one ever here.I had nothing to do with either being closed though.

I did this for awhile when i couldn't bother with taking out the hdd in ma ps2 to copy games to it but now i just stick to it cause the ftp transfer is kinda slow

 

i wasn't saying you could download pirated stuff over ps3 online. I was saying you could ftp it from your pc.

Thats just it. If you can download and play from the online service whats to prevent you from doing a transfer from your pc

 

yeah but it's the same with downloading on any game machine.Xbox live or wii' new service.
