If you had read the guide yet instead of just asking

You would have noted under the "things you need"
That it says system 3.4 firmware and under

Quit the cynicism dude. I read it carefully as much as I could before I ask, and I don't mean to bother anyone. These forums are meant for help are they not? Now could you give me a straightforward answer since I'm a bit confused.

Can I install CIOSrev9, mIOSrev3, and be able to use Backup Launcher w/ GC support on 4.0?

Evidently you didn't read it carefully.

If you did you would have your answer already.

It says you need a Wii with 3.4 or below firmware.

    Does 4.0 come before 3.4?

What do you think the answer will be?

This is a helping forum and so is this thread. But it dosent matter how helpful a thread or guide is if you don't read it word for word.

larrylje, you've done it again. Thanks for a consistently straightforward guide. I have one question before I proceed.
Back in December, I would guess, I followed your advice and guide (I believe it was just before you first wrote this guide). Anyway, I took a 3.4U wii and softmoded and then downgraded to 3.2U. I believe my Cios is v.7, and have been playing backups with 0.3 loader. My question is, where should I start in your guide. I want to upgrade the Cios to v. 9 and the GC and USB fixes. I assume I don't need to mess with the 3.4 fixes since I'm currently at 3.2U. Should I just start with reinstalling the wiigator backup launcher on your guide? Has anything changed in it since December? Or is that just the easiest way to upgrade the Cios to v.9? I have read all the posts to this thread (and others) since 4.0 came out, but wanted to make sure before I began. Always get straight answers and help from afterdawn! Thanks in advance.

All you should have to do is update the cIOS to cIOS_rev9 (just install it over the rev7).

Then install the mIOS for GameCube support.

You should now be able to boot Wii and GameCube games from WiiGator and use the USB Loader.

I get what you mean now larryje, sorry for the hostility.

Do you think a new CIOS will be released anytime soon for 4.0? Possibly to be able to run Backup Launcher/USB Loader. And will mIOS be able to work on 4.0 too?

I have downloaded the backup launcher and I keep getting an error when I try to load backup games that have already been tested on another wii and thy work. The error message is DVD Red Err (349) No C IOS.

This still could be a media issue. Just because they work on another Wii system doesn't mean they will work on yours. Use good media and Burn at 4x using IMGBurn. Again something that would have been answered if you had read the previous post.

First off, great guide! I was able to mod two Wiis with zero problems. I was wondering if there's a way to install the Wad Manager 1.3 channel to the main Wii System Menu similar to how the Wii Backup Launcher has its own channel. Can Wad Manager only be run through the SD card in the Homebrew channel or is there a way to install an independent channel for it? Any help is greatly appreciated.

You need to get the 1.3 WAD Manager WAD file and install it. I don't have that included in my pack but it isn't that hard to find.

    OK...
I installed everything a while ago on my 3.3U Wii. Everything works great and I had no problems until last night. I burned an ISO like I always do with the same DVD-R's Ive always been using, except this time, im getting "dvd read error 324". Must have burned it like 4 times with imgburn on 1x, 2x, 2.5x, and 3x. From the pervious posts, I see that its probably just a media problem, so Ive got some new DVDs to try again later tonight. Is it possible that I might have to update anything else on my Wii even though the firmware hasnt been updated??

Glad you got everything working L_se7en.

As well for anyone that would like a nice WFBS GUI to transfer games to USB device using your PC then try this nice little GUI out. It is called WFBS Manager 2.0 and you can get it HERE (Vista Compatible).

I have been riping my backup games to PC and then transferring them using the WFBS Manager. I think this is a more reliable way to do it instead of using the Wii DVD Drive. So check it out if you want a way to transfer the games to USB device using a PC.

Excellent guide! Do you still have the old guides that let you boot games from DVD?

I have no idea what your talking about. Unless your talking about the first backup loader that needed DVDx installed. I never made a guide with the first backup launcher. I have only made a guide for Wiigator 0,3Gamma.

In any case why would you want an older guide that has you follow ab outdated method?

I have noticed in a few other threads that some users are having issues going into the WiiGator settings by pressing 1. The last time I had updated my guide I included the channel to install. Unfortunately this channel was messed up and wouldn't go into settings when pressing 1.

Since then I have updated the files to include a fixed channel that does go into settings by pressing 1. So if you want to know if you have the messed up version or the updated version try pressing 1 when booting the WiiGator Gamma channel. If it does not go into settings then you have the bad version and will need to redownload the pack and replace the channel with the fixed version.

try being more specific when u ask for help! its so frustrating to read - ppl are willing to help but they are getting tired of having to actually work to find out what u actually want.

ie - u say u get dvd error #xxx - WHEN do u get the error?

u ask about other disks - HAVE U TRIED a different disk?

etc etc - u will get the answer u desperately want alot quicker if u actually make an effort to be clear and give as much info as possible...

When i load backup launcher on the homebrew channel and press a on launch game it sais dvd error 349. i've been told that verbatim is a very good brand for burning games but haven't got any at the moment and hoping to get some soon. all my other games that r original and foreign work perfectly fine through backup launcher.
