    Hi all,

My Wii was originally a 3.4U model. I added Homebrew Channel with Twilight hack and then used the Emporer of Canada tutorial to downgrade to 3.2U and install Gamma Loader 0.3. I have quite a few backups that play just fine.

However, I recently came across a couple giving me the Error 002 notice. I would like to get the most current loader and files needed to make current backups work. What exactly should I do considering I have HBC and have downgraded to 3.2U already.

Also, my unit is LU6414... I am seeing warning about not being able to downgrade LU64+ units. Should I be cautious with what I do/do not use considering this?

    Thanks in advance,
    Charles

Hi I have a 4.1u lu62 wii and I'm just wondering if I follow this guide what are the chances of me bricking my wii. From what I have read it seems like the chances are low but I just want a little reassurance that everything will go smoothly. Thanks

I'm getting the same problem. But i am using DVD-R disc's. Does anybody know what this could be fixed with? I've tried running it in both Disc Channel and Neo Gamma Thanks for any help!

New guy here. First, I have to say, hands down, this is the best thread/discussion on the basics vs. some other sites in which you would think would be better aka gbatemp wiihacks etc.

Any way, here's a quick info on my wii. It was bought 2 summers ago and it's currently on 3.2U. About 6 months ago, I soft-modded it and I must say back then it was a bit of trial and error, but I got it to work with HBC 1.0, Gamma BU Launcher CHL (never got the menu w/in the BU launcher to work, but since haven't needed it), and the cIOS version (I think) is cIOS36 rev 7, there's also a IOS36-64-v1042.wad in my wad folder and not sure if it's installed or not and it may have been copied there recently.

Our boys have enjoyed playing about 8 BU's flawlessly and we have just about as many original titles that work great too in the normal Disc CHL. Now about 2 months ago I tried a BU (I use Verbatim DVD-R and IMG burn at 3X) of My Sims Racing but it never worked (stuck on green screen or error002). I tried reading a solution for it but came up empty. I'm just giving a background here not asking game questions. Then recently the same thing happened with Wii Sports Resort.

So here I am and I'm just asking for some advice. I figure I have two options that I'm willing to do.

    1. Just stop the BU stuff all-together and buy WSR original title and every new title thereafter. I have no problem doing this, but I want to ensure that our current BU's still work using our BU chl, what our boys are used to using. I posted other places about doing this and I don't seem to get a straight answer. Honestly I'm a bit concerned installing preloader. Essentially I figure I need some patch protector always running if I insert new original titles.

    2. Following this guide seems simple, except for your statement in the OP tut "IF YOUR WII IS 4.0 OR BELOW AND ALREADY SOFTMODED (with cIOS36_rev8 or higher and homebrew channel) ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS UPDATE TO 4.1 USING THE NINTENDO SERVERS (how you normally would update). THEN INSTALL THE IOS60PATCHED.WAD. IF YOU WANT THE TRUCHA BUG FIXED THEN RUN IOS DOWNGRADER UNDER THE EXTRA STEPS SECTION!"

I think I'm cIOS36_rev7, so like a few others I would just prefer to back completely out and then follow your guide?

Any suggestions/help much appreciated. I'm a little further on in life and have some patience :)

    Cheers,
    Lex

First off IOS60Patch does not say to install it if you want trucha bug exploit fixed. Also the IOS Downgrader is not under the Extra Steps section anymore (this was changed a few weeks ago). I suggest refreshing the page and read the guide again.

As for updating follow these steps in the order I give below.

STEP 1 follow the cIOS38_rev14: section

STEP 2 Uninstall the Backup Launcher (you can do this from data management/channels in the Wii settings menu).

STEP 3 Update to latest 4.1 firmware using the normal update method.

STEP 4 Follow the IOS DOWNGRADER: section.

STEP 5 Follow the IOS60Patched and NeoGamma R6: section.

You are now updated with latest firmware and cIOS. Use Neogamma to play your backup games.

As for Wii Sports Resort look through the threads in the Wii section. There are multiple threads already started with answers on how to get this game to work.

I would also suggest installing Bootmii and Preloader at this time for brick protection (do a Google search on these applications to find out what they are and how to install and use).

Thanks for the quick reply Larry. I just came here last night so I should have a current view of your OP tut.

I will try your procedure. First just a view questions.

    1. I'm on HBC ver. 1.0, I would like to update it but it fails via WiFi (WiFi is correctly connected as the wife plays Mario Kart a lot on the WEB). So do I need 1.0.3? I would like the latest HBC if possible.

    2. So based on your recommendation on question 1 above, skip or follow Downgrade IOS35 section?

    3. Is NeoGamma a BU CHL or can I set it up that way? I would rather not have a 7 and 9 year old open HBC to run a BU.

    4. Would you recommend NeoGamma R7 over R6, especially relating to Wii Sports Resort.

    5. You said to install BootMii and Preloader which of course means both right? Can you expound as to why both?

    Thanks again,
    Lex

    1) After you follow the above steps you can uninstall the HBC by using data management/channels under Wii settings. Then follow the HBC 1.0.3 Install: section of the guide. DO THIS LAST! (while installing HBC you might as well install Bootmii also since the HBC and Bootmii is installed using the Hackmii installer).

    2) Did I say to do the Downgrade IOS35: section?

    3) NeoGamma installs as a channel (no need to boot it from HBC).

    4) If I recommend R7 over R6 don't you think R7 would be included instead of R6?

    5) If you can only install Bootmii as an IOS then I would recommend using Preloader. If you can install it as Boot2 you really don't need Preloader. I just use both myself.

ok, I gonna give it a try and ignore the 32017 error code. Now, I have all the files but this one( CIOS60BF.wad ). Where do i find it or does it get created after I run the IOS60Patched.wad ? I didn't see it in the softmod pack I downloaded. Thanx

CIOS60BF.wad is in the other guide to run backups from disc channel.

Follow this guide first. Then follow that guide after completing this guide.

    ok, Thanks
What is the other guide called or maybe a link to it. I am going to try and follow the steps you told me and now I am getting a bit confused. These are the steps you provided to do since I am already on Homebrew 1.0.3 installed. I will skip the part where you say try to install Homebrew unless I lose it when I do the ios60patch. ( Then run IOS60Patched.wad and IOS Downgrader. Then try installing the new Homebrew Channel.

After that you can install Preloader .29, cIOSCorp, CIOS60BF.wad then reinstall Preloader .29 again..) I hate to be this much of a pain but I appreciate your patience. Thanx

How about reading this guide. The other guide is linked to it at the end. You know reading goes a long way.

Okay Larry, followed these steps completely and everything installed as designed...no errors.

Now, I've yet to uninstall my 1.0 HBC and follow the HBC install with BootMii via the Hackmii Installer. I guess I should do that next, but wanted to test BU functionality.

Sweet...it took me awhile to figure out the first menu item in NeoGamma that says Launch Game DVD was actually used as a function to launch the BU game...LOL.

Alright, this is positive now our My Sims racing that wouldn't load before loads fine as well as our other 8 BU's.

    Questions:

    1. Inserting a BU disc results in the default Wii Disc CHL to say "System Update" on the CHL icon. Will it hurt to do this system update or should I ignore it? Remember I've got kids...they'll want to press it I'm sure. Is this something BootMii will rectify?

    2. At this point, w/o installing new 1.0.3 HBC and Bootmii, what would happen to my system if I put newly released original Wii titles such as Sports Resort? Would it run fine and not cause any issues with my current BU configuration? Or, would this be where Bootmii comes into play?

    Thanks,
    Lex

    Hey Larryjle

I followed your guide, up to where it says to launch WAD manager for the first time to downgrade the IOS. I try to select IOS35 but it just freezes. I selected IOS36 and it worked fine, but I ran into problems when I tried to follow later instructions.

So, I decided to reformat the wii system memory and start again. However, now when I try to launch boot.elf from the SD stick, it freezes at a black screen, so I effectivley can't go any further. I am at 4.1U firmware and my wii serial number begins with LU39

    Any suggestions?

EDIT: IOS downgrades successfully from what I can tell, (it doesn't give me any errors or anything to indicate something went wrong)it's just that the WAD manager freezes when selecting IOS35

ANOTHER EDIT: Okay, I managed to get the installer to work by recopying the files to the SD card, but I don't want to proceed unti I know what is making it freeze at the IOS35 in WAD manager. Anyone?
