I got the stack dump the first time I ran it becuase I didn't turn off the Wii to reset everything (make sure you turn off the Wii and wait a few so the USB device can turn off also).

After I did that it worked.

that i didn't do. even when at rev12, it still stack dumped. gonna retry.

restart did the trick. but the only gripe i have is that i need the sd card in to use GX, unless there's a way to have it detect the FAT partition on my external and have it load from there. with 1.1s, it's just a list.

I have been waiting for a couple of days for the guide on how to update if you have already installed HBC (the link is broken, not sure if it is permanent). My girlfriend just got EA Active, so I am naturally forced to update (I know I could try to load it with BLG and block updates, but I have no doubt she would forget, and the rest would be history). I am currently on 3.3v1, and using Larry's guide have installed HBC and the BLG channel, the only other thing I have installed is cios 249 rev 10.

I am fully satisfied with my system right now, and wouldn't mind just updating to 3.4 if it is easier. All I need is to safely update without affecting the BLG channel so I can play Active, thanks for your help. I have read that without taking any steps I can use nintendo's 4.0 update and retain functionality (but I tend not to believe that).

Question: this is a great guide and all and it worked great for me. But I'm just blindly following steps in a guide.

Is there a place where I can read about what I am actually doing? Im just curious what all those IOSes mean (IOS35? IOS249?), what cIOS is, what IOS60patch actually patches, etc etc... Not really technical, but something that allows me to see the bigger picture and explains some Wii (hacking) basics so I kinda understand why things have to be done the way they are done.

When I use google I mostly find guides like this (but not as good ;-))and people with problems.

    Thanks!

okay i have one last question..

after following all the steps to the very last IOS downgrader.

on my main disc screen it asks me to update for games such as punchout and animal crossing.

My question is, can i update them noe that everything is hacked?

i have little siblings and i let them play animal crossing on my wii.

i fear that if i cant they may accidently update it.

so is it safe to do iy and if it is what are the consequences?

    Just run the update.

If anything you might have to run the IOS60patch and maybe run the IOS Downgrader again (I don't know if the update will update the IOS with trucha exploit block again or if patching them blocks them from being updated).

I ran the Animal Crossing update but not the Punch Out update (Because I don't own it yet...)

I don't know about Backup Launcher because I don't use it but USB Loader GX still works like a charm. *Knock on wood*

I don't use preloader but I heard that it blocks disc updates if you want to check into that.

Why not follow the guide instead of going off on your own. If you don't want to follow the guide then start a new thread with your issue.

hi larry.great guide and im about to softmod my wii.... one question, though. ive heard its good to have bootmii installed (its to prevent bricks, right?). what do you think? and if yes, at which step should i do it?

ps: just saw that not everybody can have bootmii (has to be on boot2,which is not a possibility for everyone). how can one know if it is possible to have bootmii in boot2?

Start a new thread or find one that covers bootmii. This guide dosen't cover it.

After following this guide I'm wondering what files I can delete off my SD card to free up some space?

Another question, is there anyway to install wad games (WiiWare/VC) to the sd card? They are auto installing to my wii onboard memory and I don't have much left..

I really would appreciate an answer to a question I posted earlier, sorry if it's a bit basic...

Is this process reversable? Ie can I remove this from the wii and go back to how it was (say if a waranty repair is required) If so how would I do this?

I'm confused by this. Did you quote yourself? And then reply to yourself?
