I just picked up a 50 pack spindle of TDK DVD+R... I ran DVD Identifier and it came up with... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD+R:CMC MAG-M01-000] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Disc & Book Type : [DVD+R] - [DVD+R] Manufacturer Name : [CMC Magnetics Corp.] Manufacturer ID : [CMC MAG] Media Type ID : [M01] Product Revision : [Not Specified] Blank Disc Capacity : [2,295,104 Sectors = 4.70 GB (4.38 GiB)] Recording Speeds : [1x-2.4x , 4x , 6x-8x , 6x-16x] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- [ DVD Identifier V4.2.0 - http://DVD.Identifier.CDfreaks.com ] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
As I'm having no problems with this media, coasters and what not. I dont want the data to deteriorate overtime, as I've heard happens with cheap media...I'm looking for hands down, the best media for the price out there, I'll give this to a friend or better yet throw it away if its junk...
Oh god... not another CMC MAG. I would never ever waste a single penny on those low crap CMC MAG period. I highly recommend you to return them and get some high quality media such as Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim and Maxell (made in japan) as soon as possible. However, the choice is yours to keep them.
I only payed 17 bucks for the 50 pack...I'm going to give them to my step Dad I dont like him very much anyways...I'm shopping online now for some Taiyo Yuden media...I havent had a problem with a burn yet but now I'm worried about it craping out 6-12 months down the line...I already burned about 30 DVD's on memorex now they might be useless a year from now...I'm pretty new to this and finding this site has opened my eyes and got me thru alot...thanks alot A.D. friends!
Taiyo Yuden (make sure they are GENUINE though) in any rated speed and format will suit your needs just fine~ welcome to the burning scene, a very important aspect of dvd backups is your initial CHOICE of GOOD QUALITY dvd media (blank discs)...ones that will NOT deteriorate quickly...those CMC MAGs you got there, are NOT considered the "good stuff"...if you don't like your step-dad too much, then Happy Thanksgiving to HIM w/ those crappy dvds~ kill 2 birds w/ one stone. get the good stuff as per my sig...and welcome to AD~ good luck...i'll be more than willing to guide you along the way should any issues/problems occur if you are using either Taiyo Yuden (genuine, as there are MANY fakes out there) or Verbatim~ docTY~
So I take it this is a good buy should last me a year if I dont give to many away... http://www.supermediastore.com/taiyo-yuden-silver-thermal-8x-dvd-r-media-200.html Thanks again for all the help!
i saw that and all i said was "ouch".. it hurt me.. everybody is right.. verbatim.. ty's... maxells (mij) i get my supply from http://www.rima.com then there's also... http://www.supermediastore.com http://www.mertline.com compare prices on those.. looks like a good price on those from sms.com lata
very GOOD stuff indeed~!! $70 plus free shipping for 200 pieces...can't go wrong w/ those AUTHENTIC TYG02s...8x dvd-r Taiyo Yudens are very good quality media~ supermediastore.com is a reputable site to buy from, i purchase 90% of my thousands of pieces of media from them personally~ been dealing with them for about 3 years now, since they started in 2002...i've been very pleased with their pricing, shipping and always knowing i get AUTHENTIC Taiyo Yudens whenever i buy from them~ that's good enough to keep ME a long-time customer..i had never had to deal w/ customer support, so i don't know about their customer service whether it's good or not...so, i can't judge them on that aspect docTY~
Thanks for all the reply's I'm gonna try these puppies out...200 blanks for 70 bucks I feel is a great deal as I was paying around 20 for 50 pack of cheap blanks (Memorex, TDK) that I'm worried will stop working In a few months...
bit late to this thread, but i have this to say - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/232406 Verbatim Datalifeplus or Verbatim TY are my recommendations
