Hi everybody, I'm more or less an italian newbie in dvd-r recording.
I usually capture tv movies with a RADEON 8500 video card with a TV cable connector.
The problem is: after exactly 1 hour and 6 minutes the capture, obviously, stops, because the mpeg2 file reaches the max sixe (4 gb etc...).
A friend of mine told me that I could bypass the problem switching from win98 to winxp, I tried it, but the problem is not solved because the tv capture continues, but winxp simply splits the movie in two files, and I lose some seconds of the movie.
    Is there a solution?

    My PC specifications are:
    Pentium 4 2400 mhz
    512 Mb ram
    HD 120 gb
    Video Card Radeon 8500

P.S. I always use the maximum resolution for my capturing (8 mb/sec) to obtain the best result. For these reason the files split after 1 hour 6 minutes).

    Thanks in advance,

    Sergio

Not only switching, but changing your file format system to NTFS on your hard drive as FAT is limited...

One of the biggest problems when people make a upgrade from Win98-ME to WinXP is they miss the part at the beginning where there is the option to convert their drives from FAT or FAT32 to NTFS before installing WinXP.

NTFS is what you should be using on XP.
The only reason to continue to use a FAT or FAT32 file system is if you are also running another OS like Win98-ME or Linux.

Even after installing WinXP you can convert your FAT or FAT 32 drives to NTFS.
Open Help and Support and search for Convert NTFS to get directions.

Before you make the conversion to NTFS.
It is a good idea to both defragment the drive and run a error check fixing both file system errors and recovery of bad sectors.
Right click on your drive and select Properties and these options are on the Tools tab.

If you want to convert your Windows XP file format from FAT32 to NTFS simply open the RUN option under start and type

    Convert C: /FS:NTFS

This should take care of it.
