Hello, I'm new to editing videos. I use adobe premiere pro to edit downloaded movies. After editing, I export using xvid encoder..but as soon as the encoding starts, adobe premiere stops responding and it doesn't encode. I'm using k-lite codec full version. When I use other encoders, encoding finishes but garbages show up like this..

that still shows even if I use the highest quality settings.

    Dear haxso,
Downloaded movies often contain errors which may or may not show on viewing, but will affect the outcome of encoding. So with e.g. downloaded avis, I would first use a video fixer to check and fix the errors. However, you should note that this is not 100%, and sometimes the resulting files may be worse than the original. So always backup before fixing.
I would then try editing or transcoding the avis. If all goes well, a sigh of relief, if not, I'll try change the codec of the avis. Now if I can do that, then the resulting avis would be o.k. for editing or transcoding. If not, my last resort would be to find and cut off the corrupted parts manually. Sometimes I need to cut off 5-6 corrupted parts out of a downloaded movie in avi format in this last step.
Hoping the above would help, and good luck!

Premiere isn't really designed for use with codecs like XviD.

Wow, thank you very much for the replies. Honestly, I really didn't think that I would get I a reply here because I was just new here and I don't know much about encoding.
So I should download a video fixer, like the one in this site? www.video-fixer.com
    I'll try that one.
Also, can u recommend another good video editing software like that of adobe premiere? One's that are easy to learn for a newbie would help. Thank you very much.

I've already used video fixer, it fixed those videos that can't be seeked(fast forwarded). But when I try to edit the video, the resulting video is always corrupted, when I use 3ivx, the resulting video still has garbages and discolored parts, and when I use divx, the resulting video cannot be played, when I play it, illegal operation appears.

    Dear haxso,
That's the video fixer I use. It should be very effective. Anyway, after fixing, try use VSO DivxToDVD (free program) to convert the avi into DVD compliant format, then burn with Nero.
If the avi is still corrupted, and VSO results in an error, then try use X video converter (http://www.aoamedia.com/) to change the codecs of the avi (video: Xvid, audio: Mpeg Layer 3), or use the split function of x video converter to cut off the corrupted parts.
    Good luck!
