    Hello.

Nero and DVD Shrink don't get along well anymore it seems. It's best to just burn with DVD Decrypter from DVD Shrink. In DVD Shrink select "ISO image file and burn with DVD Decrypter" for the target output after you click the Backup! icon. Be sure to install DVD Decrypter first.

Also you have Roxio software installed at the same time as Nero software. They often conflict so it's best to select one or the other. If you uninstall the Roxio software, be sure to run the Roxizapper to get rid of any and all traces.

    http://tools.roxio.com/support/tools/roxizap.exe

If you uninstall Nero, run the Nero Clean Tool:

    http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html

You're also using media made by CMC Magnetics which isn't very good quality media.

One last note. If you output an ISO image file from Shrink to your HDD, you can use Nero to burn that but honestly I think Decrypter is a better burner anyway, but it's your choice.

The DMA is off on one of your CD-ROMs. See this guide:

    http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/checking DMA.pdf

    Hi Daemos95
    Here's some suggestions:
Turn DMA make on for this drive - doubt it will help with this problem but best to have all drives in DMA mode. Here's a guide:
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038

Your burner Memorex DVD16+/-DL4RWlD2>Version: JWS6 has the latest firmware. Always good to keep that up to date.

The Philips you have were made by CMC - not the best by far. Better to try would be Verbatim or made in Japan Fuji, Sony or Maxell.
70% of your memory is in use so no multi tasking and shut down any unncessary processes.
For these discs take it down to 4x.
Roxio doesn't always play well with Nero. You can uninstall Roxio and run the clean tool.
    http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml

Also make sure your external drive's connections are all secure (power & usb)

Ok i fixed the DMA on my drive and ran the roxi cleaner. But now when i try to open a disk in DVD shrink it says "failed to read file "F:\", data error (Cylcle redundancy Check)" When i put the dvd into both my dvd drives.... im going to try burning with nero in a sec...

Reduce your target size to 4300. In Shrink it's under Edit > Preferences... > Preferences tab > Target output size dropdown menu. Select custom and enter 4300 in the MB box. You're burning all the way to the edge of the disk.

The log says you burned at 16X, not 6X.

Are you trying to backup a commercial DVD? If it has heavy structural copy protection, Shrink won't be able to process it. You'll need AnyDVD running or rip with DVDFab Decrypter. Also are you trying to burn in Nero via Shrink?

Tell us exactly what you're doing and someone can provide links and other help.

Which movie are you doing? When you get that error on a dvd w/ Shrink it means either Shrink can't handle the copy protection (run something like AnyDVD in the background or rip to your hard drive 1st w/ DVD Fab decrypter)

The one drive is still in DMA mode - it's the master on the secondary ide channel - but again this may not help your burning problem.

For your discs well they can be hit or miss when it comes to burning. Then down the road may have playback problems. That's my experience w/ CMC manufacturered discs. (others here too)

So if you haven't made any other changes just installing this version of Nero then here's a few more suggestions. This is the order I would try them in - your choice though.
°Try burning w/ DVD decrypter - Shrink will also auto burn w/ Decrypter - just pick that as the option under 'select back up target'
    http://www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/
First though open decrypter - go to mode>iso and pick write. Make sure the burner is selected under destination. Set your burn speed. Close decrypter - shrink will open it when ready.

°Try the drive w/ the same discs on another po.

°Update to the latest version of Nero - 7.2.3.2b

°All fails then go back to 6.6.0.18 - run the clean tool 1st for 7.

Your last log shows 6x - so if you can't go lower use that speed.

What movies give you the crc error?

For the iTunes - I don't know if it uses Roxio to burn or not - it may.
I have iTunes but have never burned w/ it and I don't see the roxio drivers in my Nero log. But it may now use Roxio.

Shrink can't handle Hitch by itself - can't remember if either xmen gave it a problem. The last one may have.
So the Xmen giving you a CRC error now - is that the one you already have on your hard drive?

There are more nowadays it can no longer handle by it's lonesome.

So for those you'll need either AnyDVD running in the background or rip w/ dvd fab decrypter 1st then open those files in Shrink.

AnyDVD (not free but has a 21 day trial)

    More than likely yes.
CRC errors are usually due to a problem w/ the source disc. It could be the disc is dirty, scratched, bad press and/or the program can't handle the copy protection.

I usually check the back of the discs before I rip them for smudges, scratches etc. And only hold them by the outer edges.

Okay - let's try and rule out the other possibilites besides media. See my post above for them.
    We can go from there.

Glad to hear that one did the trick for you!
Try a few more using Shrink and Decrypter.
If things go good than you may want to try Nero again.
For nero though you may want to uninstall it then run the clean and reinstall.
Here's a link for the clean tool:

    Keep us posted!

i also have an external HP 16X and i found that i have to unplug/plug the power cord(from the device) at times to receive recognition (when this happens i also have to use the back button on nero then procede to the burn page select the burner and it is good to go (but every now and then i have to unplug it to view as well)
