I have been having problems for quite some time now. sometimes my burner works sometimes it doesn't. More than not it seems to be messing up as of late. I have a sony DRU-810A. I have tried alot of things people have suggested. Switched from Nero to IMG burn, bought verbatim discs etc. I was just wondering if you all think that burner is too old? I bought it in April 2006 but I do not know if it had been on the shelf awhile. I just didn't know if it is too old to work with todays discs or not. Thanks for any help.

I bout my LG GSA160B in November 2004 and it works fine with today's disks, it burns at 16x. Your drive is not even 2 years old. Check the cable is OK and connected properly. Of course it may be faulty. DVD burners are cheap now anyway.

I believe the DRU-810A came with a 2 year warranty so maybe you could claim on it?

Thanks for the info. What do you mean check the cable? Are you talking about the cable that runs from the drive to the motherboard?

Yes. Is it firmly plugged in at each end?
