I have just reinstalled Windows & all my programs for the 4th time. Everything runs fine for about 10 minutes, & then the problems begin. Everytime i try to connect to the internet using Firefox or IE6, I keep getting errors saying the page cannot be displayed. Even though Utorrent still continues to download (Slowly).. I have tried everything i can think of & have had enough. Does anyone know what could be wrong?? Also if i go into the BT home hub & go to devices i can see my pc, but i also see something called: Unknown-02-18-f6-ad-41-10. This is all the programs i haver installed & in this order: Installed Windows Motherboard Drivers Nvidia Display Drivers Creative Soundblaster 4 Drivers Ntune Zonealarm Ad Aware 6 Pro Spyware Doctor A2 Free Broadband CD DirectX Updates Nod32 Antivirus Winrar Pro Windows Live Messenger Windows Media Player 11 XP Codec Pack 2.2.0 CCCP Codec Pack Realplayer Alternative Adobe Acrobat Reader 8 Daemon Tools Pro Edition Peer Gaurdian 2 Utorrent Xbox360 Controller for Windows Drivers Firefox Its a real pain having to reinstall Windows along with all these. Nobody seems to be doing HJT logs in here at the momment and I'm not an expert but I've found this site helpful http://www.hijackthis.de/#anl But please rember that HJT is a very powerfull tool do your homework on unkown entries
hi, a reformat would take care of all problems be it malware or software. you would really be starting with the core window files. are you sure you are really reformatting your hard drive and not just doing a reinstall of windows. the reformat would wipe your hard drive. hjt log looks ok as far as malware goes.
@Echoreply Ive reformatted the HDD anout 5 times. 4 times i did the quick reformat & once the long one. It seems to happen after ive installed my programs etc. Anyone any idea what this device is in the BT Home Hub?? Device: Unknown-02-18-f6-ad-41-10 Ive done a new Hijack This log & would appreciate if someone could take a look at it as i had some sort of Zlob but i think its gone. Ok I think its time to come at this a different way it doesnt seem to be spyware Are you connecting via wireless or ethernet to the hub ? is there more than one PC on the hub if so how is it connected ? is anything else using the hub ie. xbox wii phone voip etc ? can you ping the internet via the cmd prompt ? try ping google.com are you using wep or wpa security on the wireless ? tried setting the dns of your isp manualy ? tried uninstalling firefox ? a couple of modems dont like it tried rebooting your modem ?
I connect to the hub via Ethernet cable. I've tried the USB cable but its a lot slower. This is the only PC connected to the hub & the only other thing connected to it is the hub phone. The ping works perfectly. I tried setting the DNS manually but ended up with no internet. I havent tried uninstalling firefox as this happened before i installed it. Ive rebooted the modem lots of times & the only port i have open is for bittorrent. It says i am using WEP security. It also says i have 3 static IP addresses. Also this keeps coming up in devices: Unknown-02-18-f6-ad-41-10. It says its connected by Ethernet 3. I just had to do a system restore and now its took me back to when i had the trojan. I keep getting popups telling me im infected with Spy.Win32@mx. I downloaded Smitfraudfix & ran a scan & have included the results. If anyone can help/suggest with anything it would be appreciated.
