im hoping someone out there will help me out , i run my own internet bussiness and i have been out of bussiness for days now because of computer issues..

first off my emachines computer came with a system restore disk, i run it (symantec Ghost 7.0) and it says sucessfully restored then it will ask me to remove the disks and restart the computer when i do so and windows attemps to load up i get the error message ' windows could not start because the following file is missing or currupt: \WINDOWS\system32\config\SYSTEM .

i am not sure why its not working, the emachines restore disk has windows xp on it it automatically installs it. i cannot get it to start in safe mode, last known config,or start win normally

Normally I would tell you to follow the instructions here
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545
but that requires you to have the original Windows CD, not a system restore disk. You get that message when the registry is corrupt. I am not sure if there is a way to repair it without a original Windows XP CD.

I've NEVER had to put in a password when re-formatting my 4 hard drives, & I've done it a few times! Have you not got an XP boot disc, NOT a downloaded one, the only thing you need to type is the product key.

i have a 6 floppy disk set with windows xp console on it, i put it in my drive and it loaded up the console and i got passed the password issue! i entered in the information listed on the microsoft website copy/deleting files i restarted it and that took away the corrupt file issue but my computer still says this on startup and it will not go into safe mode,or last known config,or normally i really need this to work all of my bussiness depends on this.

Well I have just put an XP boot disc in my PC, it has 488mb of info on it. 6 floppy discs will only hold 10mb or so MAX. So you need a proper boot disk. Never come across the password thing though. What's all that about?
