please help! keep getting ERROR Message burning AVI to DVD... I'm just about out of Blank DVD's and I had alot of them!!!

please help! I am trying to burn a DVD from an AVI file and I keep getting this error message: UNABLE TO CREATE DISC STRUCTURE:I/O ERROR IN DVD ENGINE. BURN PROCESS FAILED! The error message comes after the disk has gone trough more than 3HRS of encoding and burning. I am using NeroVision Express 3 to encode and burn the disc. Tsk, tsk! Shame on you! I't all your fault. If you had read some of this pages, you would have known this simple rule [bold] DO NOT USE NERO FOR MOVIE ENCODER. ENCODE THE MOVIE FIRST, THEN USE NERO FOR CREATING THE DVD STRUCTURE (or burning: we usually propose IFOEdit to author the DVD and Nero for simply burning the DVD)[/bold].
Read http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/convert_avi_to_dvd.cfm . And read some guides, some 'sticky' threads. They are nice, cheaper than hundreds of DVD-Rs and easy to find. Look in http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/ and study a little, please....

More, but this is, I noticed, only my opinion: making a DVD from a small .AVI is a loss of (money and) time. Which quality do you think to obtain from a 700-900 MB .AVI when a DVD is 4.5 GB large? Make a VCD, (even rather a SVCD) instead. They are cheap, easy to make...apart that you need 2 CDs instead of 1 DVD to contain a >80' movie, it's a good thing to do that...

 

I know it's none of my business but why don't you use a re writeable disc to play with then when all is well copy it to a disc of you choice. Seems it would save some bucks.

 

one other thing joeycars , it appears you have your serial key for nero there for all to see , line 03:56:13 . you might want to edit your post unless you want everyone to have it . another problem is you are using the latest nero vision express 3 that a lot of people here are having trouble with including myself . reinstalling the previous version will correct the problems with nero not being able to burn . i had plenty of failed burns over the weekend before uninstalling nero vision express 3 and going back to the previous version .
