I am new too modding. I have modded my PS2, but have no idea where to begin on my X-box. please, could someone answer some simple questions.

    1. How do I back-up my games ? What program should I use ? Is it the same as making ISO's ?

    2. Where you do buy mod-chips from ? Any good sites, plus is solderless easier to install, any disadvantages ?

    3. Do you have any advice or useful information, I'd be very grateful.

Thank you, Afterdawn. You guys have helped a noob so much.

Follow this its works great. I used Splinter Cell Platnium. O'Yeah Make sure you know what version X Box you have probably 1.6, and when the light flashes its done otherwise you could wait for ever. It can be done in a matter of minutes.

Once you finsh that "Backup drive C" Transfer C to your PC "Keep Reading" The I reccommend running a copy of [XboX] SlaYers EvoX Auto-Installer v2.6 Final.iso "Always available on Bearshare", and downloading and upgrading your apps off Eurasia.nu. For example Dvd2Xbox, XBMC "X BoX Media Center", Your emulators for old gaming systems like NES, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis, PS1, and Atari. Slayers comes with alot of applications that are outdated, or that you have no use for. You can edit slayers.iso or delete or update with Flash FXP Drive F Apps or E apps, I choose to install in F.

XBMC is awesome!!!!!! It will even play the videos downloaded of my Nokia camera phone, and any other type of video file I've tried. I'm gonna try using it as my default dashboard on my retail hdd next time I open the console up. For now I prefer Media X Menu for my Dash. I think it is much more user friendly than evolution x dash, the X BoX is for my kids ya know, even though I use it to back up all my data for work, my pictures, and my avi's, dvd's, wmv.'s and what not.

To create a Backup of an X Box game, and update your apps you have to File transfer "FTP" Here's an excellent Tut. You read an X Box disk, or DVD via FTP. It is drive D. Copy D to your PC and rename it what ever game it is.n The Application dvd2xbox will copy a dvd, or game to your X BoX hdd. You retail is 10 gigabites and you can fit a few X BoX games, and all the emulators, and roms you could ever use.

Once you have the raw files on you PC you will need Qwix to create what we call an Xiso. You can download it here.

Once you create an Xiso, burn it with Dvd Decrypter or Nero, I prefer Dvd Decrypter "Also always available on Bearshare" for reading and writing iso's and Xiso's.

It was at this point in my reading that I decided that I would just make a 200 gb. Hdd from scratch using a little Linux distro called xboxhdm_v1.9 "You can use it on windows" so my disks wouldn't get scratched, But take your time and read before locking a HDD, and remember it locks with the HDD Key generated from your eeprom.bin HDD Key ,Not the password, and read the tuturial, read me, and how to inclosed in the archive. I mean read them until you can almost recite it word for word, and if somthing doesn't make sence, ask someone at Afterdawn or Teammodders.com like myself.

You can get Slayers.iso, Dvd Decrypter, xboxhdm_v1.9, and just about anything you want off file sharing programs like Bearshare. Hope this helps. I would like any great begginer links for modding PS2 sent me PM, I want to see first hand that X BoX is better. LOL If you have any ?'s don't hesitate to ask, especially when using xboxhdm_v1.9

Here you can get roms and emulators. http://www.romnation.net/srv/roms.html , I'll get back with my preferred emulators.
