Can you guys help me find out where to purchase the discs I have listed below. I made up my mind on which drive I've decided to purchase, Optorite DD712A. I'ev been searching around in yahoo and google and can't seem to find the mentioned disc with the specific media codes. I've visited sites that carry the mentioned brand, but the media codes don't match. It seems as if they only carry the discs that are compatible with the optorite model that was put out before the 712A.

Some of the current Verbatim DVD+R 4X discs are Mitsubishi ID code MCC 002/003 but unless you are buying a disc with the manufacturers name on it, then what you get is a gamble. I've noticed that you have CMC listed under your DVD choices, they have been generally been considered the worst of the worse.

Look for Taiyo Yuden 8X media.

    Look for Ritek 8X media.

My first choices for buying online would be
    SuperMediaStore.com
    Meritline.com
    Shop4tech.com

You should be able to find those brands and a few others on those sites.
Although I would stick with the Taiyo Yuden, Ritek, or ProDisc...in that order.

newegg.com is my preference. Lowest prices I have found on the net, and the service is the best.

JJ636: if you want the best, and you don't mind spending a bit more for your blanks, just go for Taiyo Yuden DVD-Rs/+Rs. Rima.com is the best source of Taiyo Yudens. You don't even need to pay extra for 8x-rated Taiyo Yudens as the 4x discs are still excellent when burnt at 8x.
