OK so here's the deal. I have a workgroup setup at home, 1 desktop and 1 laptop, the desktop is wired into a linksys router and the laptop is wireless. I ran the network setup wizard on both computers, joined them to the same workgroup, and turned on file and printer sharing. My firewall is configured to allow all network addresses within a certain range.

Here lies the problem, when I go to my network places and I click on view workgroup computers, THERE ARE NO COMPUTERS LISTED THERE, and the same if I try to view worgroup computers from the laptop. I can ping both computers, but I can't browse to them by IP or by host name. I've tried everything: I took them out of the workgroup and joined them to a different workgroup, I've ran the WinsockXPFix, which pretty much fixes any network issues in your registry, after I run the WinsockFix I can actually see the computers in the workgroup, but when I set my IP back to static as opposed to DHCP, I get hit with the same problems.

This is really driving me nuts, all I wanna do is share files between my desktop and laptop, any help would be really appreciated.

    Thanks
