ok, i just bought an i/o magic internal dvd+_rw/+_r 16x16x8 burner about 2 months ago,at first it worked fine. then one day i was getting ready to burn and noticed the led light on the front kept blinking and the disk wouldn't eject,so i uninstalled it. now when i hook it up and turn on my computer it freezes up when it says "detecting ide devices". if it does boot up the light on the front of the burner stays on,it is not recognized with add hardware wizard, and the tray won't eject.any suggestions???
try un installing the drive open device manager to see if the computer has the drive listed if so deleate it and then reboot your computer this will reinstall the drive if this does not work check the data cable on the drive make sure that the cable is seated properly also check bios to check to see if the drive is listed it sounds like a cable problem
i tried that but no luck. i even tried like three different cables,another question, they say the cable has a red stripe on one side and thats suppose to be on the right side but the cable has a little tab on it and i have to turn the cable upside down for it to fit and that leaves the red stripe on the wrong side, and all the cables are that way
that is no problem as long as the data cable is in properly try this open up device nanager and delete the secondary ide controller then reboot your computer windows will reinsatll it
