    rhino193--
When you say the movie starts skipping--what do you mean--are you watching the movie after burning it or is it happening during the burn? Also what media are you using?

    rhino193--
Sometimes stand alone DVD players have a problem playing certain burned disks--especially the older (more than 3 years) players--a couple things to try--first, have you ever played burned disks on this player? If so, what were they? Try a different brand (Sony, TY, Maxell)--NOT Memorex. Also what type of burner do you have? Some types allow you to change the book-type to DVD-Rom (In DVD Decrypter)--which are much more compatible with stand alone players. Good luck

I also recommend burning the DVD at the lowest speed possible, also download DVD identifier to check the manacfurer of your disc, also what burner are you using, also I dont think it is a compatibility issue due to the fact that the movie is detected without any problems.

Tell me how you do ;)

paztelu is right--I forgot to mention that 4x burning speed should be your maximum--
