My ipod doesn't recognized that I have music and video files on it, but the capacity shows that I still do have them.

I tried removing the Music file folder and moving it to another ipod. Then I reset the factory settings on my ipod, then put the music folder back onto my ipod but I'm still getting the same results:\

Can someone please tell me there's a way to fix this problem w/o erasing all of my songs?

Are you using iTunes to synchronize the songs onto your iPod, or are you just simply dragging and dropping them~?

I set it so I can drag and drop them, I think I may have unplugged it from the computer while it's still linked up to itunes.

Ah, didn't see this part, as you edited it in after I replied.

Restore your iPod using the Updater, and then reload your iPod's content. Your problem should be solved after that.

If you aren't aware of how to restore your iPod, have a look through the following document -- it's extremely simple ;-)

    Happy Podding.

ok I decided to drag the files from my ipod(via My Computer) into itunes and now it's showing up. But does anyone know why it won't let me drag more than a few files at a time? I can't even drag folders into it.

Maybe because the file names are too long. Try shortening the name to something like vid1, vid2, etc. or something like that and you can change it back when it is in iTunes.

If you want to add an entire folder click 'File' -> 'Add Folder to Library' then just find the folder you want to add. I'm assuming you were trying to drag the folder into iTunes before, which for some reason doesn't always work.

My ipods also screwed. I was using it to transfer files from my old PC to my new one and it was fine. So i have it pluged in oneday when i start up and it says i need to formatt so im like ok and i start a format only to realise that i still have old files i want so i disconnect it hoping it will be fine cos its only been formatting for a second or two and now its fucked. I can update my ipod, i cant finish a format, i cant delete the files on it and when i play songs it only playes bits of some songs and not the whole track and at the end of each track it plays about a 1/2 second clip of another song??? wtf

That is a pretty good problem you got yourself there. Just about all the information on the iPod is pretty crucial to it working and that is where your problem lies, being you reformatted some of it but not everything.

Does your computer recognize your iPod when you connect it? I know you said it doesn't update songs but if you can see it under 'My Computer' you should be able to use the iPod updater to restore the firmware and that should have you on your way again.

If it doesn't show up then try forcing your iPod into disk mode. Hold down Menu and Center to restart the iPod then when the Apple logo appears hold down Play and Center. This should put your iPod into disk mode and allow you to restore the firmware.
