i am very new to this satalite (fta) recivers deal and from what i found out this recievers can also pick up d**h network channels i already have a dish, just wondering what would be the next steps such as wat reciver should i purchase and if i have to do anything special to them in order for them to pick up d**h network channels- key, etc. thanx in advance any help will be greatly appreciated/ please explain in details
Most FTA receivers can be re-programmed to receive D**H network. You usually need to hook them up to a computer through the serial port and load a bin file into the receiver. The software and bin files can be found easily at most FTA forums. Its that simple. You have to have a dish aimed at the proper sats with good quality signal. As to which receiver, its up to you, but stick with one of the brand names and make sure its not a clone version. I use a Pansat receiver. A good starting model would be the 2700A or for a few dollars more try the 3500. When I first got into this, I didn't know much about it but still had my complete system up and running in about 45 minutes. Just do a Google search for FTA receivers and FTA forums. I would like to recieve those channels as well. Would I have to purchase a dish network dish or would anyone work?
Any old dish will work but some LNB's need changed at times since they are not compatible with FTA receivers. I use an old DTV 18 inch dish which works excellent. The bigger the dish the better signal and less fade out you will have. So you will get better results with a 24 or 30 inch dish as compared to the 18 inch size.
