Can someone please help me? I don't understand this unit was working fine then all of a sudden when I am trying to record shows from my directv tivo unit thru the unit it says that the material is copyrighted and gives me a No Rec message. I have stuck different blank dvds in there and unplugged it to restart it. Can it actually not allow me to copy my shows after a certain amount or recordings? I can't believe that? And if so can I somehow reset it? I don't get it. I can't see how the ES15 can know how many times I am recording a tv show.. like a news cast, etc.. SOmeone please help? Greatly appreciated it.
I have a DMR-ES20 (basically the same unit as yours) that I think we bought about 2 years ago. I too have had that same error message while recording from my satellite. BUT... only when I recorded multiple shows using multiple scheduling slots (ie. each recorded show was independently scheduled 8to9; 9to10; 10to11) At the end of the hour (or beginning) I would get that message and recording would stop. I would have to jump and manually resume recording. If I set up recording the same number of shows using 1 single schedule (8to11) I would not have this problem. To get around the issue of all three shows being in one recording I would just chapterize them. This might not be the best solution, but it works for me. As to why this acually happens?? I cannot say for sure.
