Please write more clearly and specifically and use periods. I'm happy to help but I really couldn't make much out of what you wrote.

The first thing to check is the CPU fan and heatsink. Make sure the fan is running and that it is firmly attached to the CPU. Some Antec Silver Thermal Paste or some other thermal paste placed between the heatsink and the CPU might help.

If that doesn't seem to help, try removing all connections to all drives, USB ports, everything. Only the motherboard should be powered (usually, there are three connectors going to the motherboard). The only other connection should be, if necessary, two leads that are used by the power switch. No hard drives, floppy disks - NOTHING - should be connected to the motherboard or power supply. Start your machine and let it POST (go through the Power On Self Test) and run for awhile. If it stays on, then the problem is either a shorted/screwed up drive or device, or an overloaded or failing power supply.

sorry i was in a bit of a rush when i wrote it out its a
    advent 3216
    2.80ghz
    intel pent 4 h-t fsb 800
    512mb ddr
    geforce 4 mx 128mb / tv out
    80 gb hd

what i have done so far is changed power supply cable removed switch so allways on then changed bios battery still the same the fan comes on for about 8 seconds and a light on the front of the pc then it just cuts out so i have been disconecting things one at a time to see if it starts without as i thought it would be a drive or memory problem first i tried the hard drive computer wouldnt start at all
then with cd dvd + floppy all checked one at a time just same boots for 8 seconds then cuts out same with the memory but i get a beep to suggest error no memory when i remove the 20 pin wire that gos to the mother board and plug it in to another computer it powers both but only the fan on the broken pc and it stay on so not realy sure what that means theire was alot more dust than usual when i opend up the pc im thinking i might need a whole new mother board but realy have no clue what im doing at all when it comes to hardwere only how to replace not diognoise hope you can make sense of this

thanks dunker i will try the above and post results

-First thing to do would be to connect your mb speaker or buy one
-Second thing to do would be to check your motherboard connections. remove all exept power on switch and make sure that is hooked up right.
-Boot computer and see what it does with beeps from speaker and all then consult your documentation.
-Last thing to do would be to take an few english classes lol, your run on sentences are annoying.

my hunch is bad cpu but it could be alot of things
