My computer has been kind of slow and choppy for the past week. I am wondering if any of you could help me by looking at my HijackThis log and tell me if there are any problems. There are no infections showing. We don't need to use HjT, but for future fixes: HijackThis is running from a temp folder meaning you didn't uzip(extract) the zip file. HijackThis.exe has to be in a permanent folder in order to create backups. Create a folder in C:\ named HjT. Extract HijackThis.exe to the new folder. Go here and download [bold]CCleaner[/bold]. (for cleaning temp files) Install it, but don't run it yet. Will after installing Java update. Go here and download [bold]Java Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 9[/bold]. Uninstall all previous versions of JRE via Add/Remove Programs. Close all windows. Open CCleaner. Click Options > Advance > uncheck "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours". Click Cleaner > Run Cleaner. After cleaning, click "Issues". Click "Scan for Issues". After scannning, click "Fix selectes issues...". When prompted to backup registry, click "Yes". Click Fix all. Restart your computer and install JRE Update 9. I don't see a firewall running on your machine. A firewall is very important! You may have the Windows firewall on, but it's not enough protection. Many are offered for free: Zone Alarm Free Agnitum Outpost Firewall Kerio Personal Firewall Remember to turn off Windows firewall if it is running. [bold]Defragment[/bold]: Restart your computer in safe mode. Press F8 before the Windows load screen, select "Safe Mode" from menu. Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmentor. Defragment the C:\ drive. [bold]Note[/bold]: This will take a long time. About 3-4 hours depending on the size of the disk.
Thanks so much. I really needed the help. I am going to do the fix right now and post later with how it went. Thanks
