please help i have a Toshiba P205-s6267 that i downgraded to XP Pro.
everything was working fine i have always used Ridata DVD+R's but last month i tried the TDK brand and last week i started to get alot of burn errors. Now i can not even burn a Cd with out getting a error. I tried burning on a ridata dvd+r and have no problem. but when i try another it gets loud when reading it and i get a error.
when it starts to read or write a cd it gets really loud, which it has never done in the past.could it be the software or does it have to be the drive. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled Nero, DVD Shrink and AnyDVD. are there any Firmware update for this burner.

I don't know what version you have, so i'm not sure if there is an update for that burner or not.

ImgBurn (freeware) has an option to check for firmware updates. Tools>Drive>check for firmware update.

As far as blank media goes, your best bet is to stick with the good stuff. Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim are heralded as the best.

Try updating your firmware, use good media and see how it goes.
