I have a new E1505 laptop from dell and have been burning dvds with it for a few weeks but lately, every single dvd I try to burn errors out the same whether in nero or dvd shrink or other programs. It is always at the same part in the disk and I have tried other brands just to be sure. They are standard DVD+R DVD-5 media. I have tried what I can think of, firmware is up to date, nero is up to date, drivers are up to date.

Here is the log file of my last attempt: (identical to other failed attempts)

Run the clean tool again, this time do not install the version you bought. Only install the one that Gwen mentioned. You can enter your cdkey with this download.

As suggested, uninstall, run the clean tool (to remove 7.0.0.0) and re install from link supplied

    Slow your burn to 4X

Well thank you both for your help, it turns out that my writer (TS-L532B) does not like the budget media that Microcenter sells. I tried verbatim DVD-R's and have not failed yet. This is surprising because the windata DVD+r's from Microcenter worked about a dozen times before they stopped working. I really didn't think that this was a incompatiable media issue so it was very shocking when the verbatims worked fine.

As far as downgrading, I did. I'm not sure what you are seeing in my log but what I see is that I had the version that I purchased (7.2.3.2) and then followed gwendolins clean steps and now I am using version 7.0.8.2

Nero 7.2.3.2b, although their latest release contains some bugs, the version recommended 7.0.8.2 has proven to be the last of the "stable" versions, happy burning.

BTW good choice of media, Verbatim.

Thanks for the help gwendolin, I was getting rather frusterated since its a brand new burner and I was not looking foward to sending it back to dell and not having it for almost a week. It was dell who suggested to try different media. I have used microcenter brands (because they are cheap of course) in my desktops for a few years now and never had a problem. But I guess this TSST drive is just a bit more picky then my others.

I have seen other people having troubles with this drive (TS-L532B) that sounded very similar to mine. I now know to suggest better media to those.

Thanks for the advice anyway, stable version are always better than buggy.
