Read the tutorial, can't seem to get my PS2 games to burn!! I've tried several times, but I can't seem to make it happen. I've been through 5 discs so far and getting very frustated. I have a 8X Sony DRU-530A drive and 4X DVD+R discs. Tried Nero, CloneCD, and Prassi.
Prassi tells me there is no compatible recorder.
I forget the problem i had with CloneCD.
Nero seems like it's going good, but when it starts to burn, it gives me a '4X write error'.. Below is part of the log on Nero where I think the error occurs.
    8:05:56 PM #15 Text 0 File WriterStatus.cpp, Line 113
    <SONY DVD RW DRU-530A > start writing Lead-Out at LBA 2279152 (22C6F0h), lenght 0 blocks

ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!
    Thanks

Many thanks for your help. I just tried DVD Decrypter and everything seemed to be fine. I copied GTA to a disc and it said the burn was sucessfully completed. I tossed the swap disc in my PS2, put the burned game in, pressed X and NOTHING! It just hung on the insert disc screen.
Now, as far as not using 4X goes.....Should I set Nero to only burn at 1X or 2X - or - should I only use 1X or 2X discs? Please forgive me, it's still pretty new to me!! I do have a few 2.4X discs. Would those work O.K.? And if so, what speed to write at?

well, just tried it at 2.4x write on a 4x disk with Nero. It came all the way to the end of the writing period and then the same error as before. I'm going to try this 2.4x disc and see if I can write at 2x or 1X. And I'm still stumped! Any other ideas?

I have the exact Sony model as you. I used to use the old NERO with the wizard. I would make a backup using the NERO wizard and never have any trouble. Also you might want to upgrade your firmware for your drive if you haven't already. I have no trouble at all making backups of my PS2 and XBOX games. I use Verbatim disks burned at 2X and lately have been burning at 4X with no trouble at all.

I'm not 100% sure on this but I think V3-V8 PS2's do not read DVD+R only DVD-R. I maybe wrong though. I use a Pioneer 105, PrimoDVD and Datawrite Red, Yellow and Ritek -R's and as long as the laser is not really bad then I usually find they will work at any speed.

Motomatt, you say you used to use an older Nero. Which are you using now? Also how do I upgrade the firmware for my drive?
It seems my Nero will only go as low as 2.4X write speed. Should I use an earlier version, and if so, which?
Someone I used to know backed up some of my games on DVD+R's so I know they work in my PS2.
Also I tried DVD Decrypter at 1X write speed on a 2.4X disc, same as before - finished writing, but the game hangs when i put it in..

2.4X is plenty slow enough. I used like the old 5 something version nero.. NERO and Record MAX is all that I have ever used. I will locate a link for a firmware update for you.

I've backed up at 8x and everything works fine for me... I have the Plextor 708A burner... to me it sounds like your burners just might not be good at reading and writing... cuz I've yet to have a bad backup.

ya i think you're right, that's what i read in other threads...I tried to burn that to a disc and it still doesnt seem to work. Could anyone leave me a detailed description on how to make and use the cd loader? I went to swapmagicfix.com and dl the cdloader from there. There were 2 files, bin and cue, and i burned them to disc. Then off another thread i found a place to get an iso file i also burned that and it doesnt work either.
I have a v7 ps2 with no solder mod chip and use the swap discs. NO flip top or slide card.
Thank you for helping a n00b

Lord of the rings was really really cool in my opinion. It lets you play the game with up to four people at the same time.. It's almost like watching a DVD as you are playing except with realtime effects and stuff. Pretty awsome I thought
