hi, i have a very stupid question...sorry i couldn't find anything related to my problems...i need some help on backing up ps2 cd games. i have waisted 8 cds...i am not sure what i am doing wrong.

i am kind of an intermediate in backing up ps2 stuff...i just started 1 month ago. all my dvd backed up games work fine...i am using swap magic 3.6 set on a ps2 v7, dvd decrypter, and the burner and dvds that i am using have been working fine...sorry i can't remember their brand at this time.

but anyhow...i am trying to back up a cd ps2 game...so i am using the same tools that i mentioned above...but of course with blank cds.

    here are my problems:

    1. when i use decrypter...when it reaches 86% writting...it fails and gives me an error message. i tried 2 cds and the same message came up. sorry i can't remember the message now...

    2. then i tried alcohol 120 and when the disc is placed into the ps2 the disc spins so fast and makes so much noise that i think it will explode into my ps2...nothing happens...keeps spinning...

    3. i tried nero...and for some i don't know how to use iso on nero...i am confused here...

    4. so, i decided to burn this cd based game onto a blank dvd...not sure if this is supposed to work or not...tried and nothing worked...is this possible? burn a cd based game onto a dvd? i tried and used the cd swap magic and the dvd one and nothing booted...

please can someone show me a link of step by step instrucitons and the tools used to back up CD ps2 games, please?

    what am i doing wrong?

    thank you in advance...

good news... i'm here to help you cause someone else helped me when i needed.
The very easy way to do is:
Start your Nero Express (not NeroVision Express SE) and choose "Copy entire disc" after that just choose your source driver( where your Original will be) and destination driver (where your blank disc will be), to a fast copy just make sure to select "Quick Copy". and then press Copy... just wait and your backup will be ready.

Make sure you have Modchip installed or SwapMagic to play your backups.

nope it did not work. i tried the 1-1 copy using nero like you said and once i place the disc on the ps2 it spins and spins...nothing happens. do you think my media is bad? i am using tdk blank cds...

can someone tell me some good brands, please? i am aware of verbatim...sony...any other ones?

but...i am kind of guessing that i am doing something wrong when backing up this ps2 cd (half life). i did some research and i did not see that i need a patch for this game...

please somebody help me again? thank you...

Here are the instructions to do this (copied from another forum). I'm going to try & do this myself today. It should work.

Ok so you got this game that is on cd and cant boot PS2 cds on your system, you want to put them on dvd.
First make sure you have everything installed.
    1. Make a folder somewhere you wont forget where it is name it whatever you want, I just make it on my desktop, and keep called new folder.
    2. Using Iso Buster extract all the files and folders from your "cd" image to you "new folder" on your desktop.
    3. Open Nero burning rom (I dont use express so these instructions will not use it). Start a new compilation.
    4. Make sure you select dvd in the drop menu, it may say cd now but chage it.
    5. Scroll down all the way and select Dvd-Rom (UDF/ISO).
    6. On the mutisession tab select no multisession.
    7. On the ISO tab make sure there are no check marks in any of the boxes, (there is one that is greyed out that says allow more than 64 charecters, dont worry about this).
    8. Still on the ISO tab file name length should be max of 11 = 8 + 3chars Iso level 1
    9. Still on ISO tab charecter set should be iso 9660 (standard iso cd rom)
    10. Next under UDF tab UDF partion type should be Physical Partition
    11. Still inder UDF tab file system version should be UDF 1.02
    12. Leave force dvd-video compatability uchecked
    13. Under the label tab make up a name for you compilation
    14. Dates tab leave it alone it doesnt matter
    15. Misc tab make sure each box has a check mark
    16. Burn tab, if it is going to be less than s gigs burn at your slowest speed, otherwise dont worry too much
    17. Hit the new button
    18. Browse to your folder you created and put all the files and folders in there just the way they are
    19. Hit burn
    20. Sit back and wait
    21. Play game using your favorite booting method for dvd's
