Hello, i'm new here and have started having problems with my cd/ dvd rw drive. it'll read discs with media on them, but whenever i put a blank one in, it tells me to insert a blank disc...and i've tried several different fresh blanks... can any1 help me please? cheers john
Two quick things to try: Click on the drive properties, select the 'Recording' tab and uncheck 'Enable CD recording on this drive' and 'OK' - then turn it on again. If that doesn't help, uninstall the IDE channel that the drive is connected to, then reboot. This assumes that the optical drive is on the Secondary channel My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager. Expand IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers;highlight 'Secondary IDE Channel', right click and select 'Uninstall' 'OK' then reboot - the drivers will be reinstalled and the burner re-detected.
