hi i have recently switched on my new computer it has no operating system and i have switched it on and it says please insert bootable disk or bootable media disk, does this mean i need a copy of windows i havent got a copy of windows but i will buy one if thats the case any help thanks.
Most new computers come with an OS, but I am aware of a few companies that will still sell a white box (no OS provided). Assuming that this is the case for your computer, then yes, you will need a CD to install an OS. Obviously, the vast majority of people use Windows, but you could also use Linux (several distributions to choose from). Also, if this is a new computer, then you can simply purchase an OEM version of Microsoft. It'll be a little cheaper than the retail version, but once you install it, it's locked to that computer (legally, not technically).
