    Dear Friends,
I found a good deal on a DVD burner at Best Buy but I can’t seem to find any information about it on the Web. I was hoping that some of you might know something about it or where I might be able to find some information myself. If you do know something maybe you might know about the software that comes with it (anything would be appreciated). BUSlink 4XDVD+RW/+R Dual – Format Drive. I wrote this question originally acouple of weeks ago & was told by some on this forum that BUSlink was a company that buys other DVDRW’s and sells them as theirs. Some of you said it was probably a LITEON, but to check the drive and see. I’ve looked all over the Drive and can’t find anything but BUSlink. If you know what I should be looking for please help me find it. BUSlink is impossible to get hold of. That’s why I depend on you guys (and gals).
    Thanks again & God Bless
    Uncle Bob

If it's a newer Lite-on it will be very short (front to back) compared to most drives. Does it look smaller?

never heard of buslink but mine is a no name brand (ikebana- and i've had it for a year no problems even with cheap media) yes newer liteons are smaller ( i just bought a LITEON DVD ROM drive ) but when you get one pick up DVD Shrink from this website (its a free dvd coping program) and DVD+R are more compatible than -r and use a better dye so even the "cheap" media work well (but +r cost about $2 each compared to $1.20 for -R)

Did you buy the drive? If so, what does the device manager list it as?

MysticE is completely right. The DVD+R format is most definitely not more compatible. In fact it is the complete reverse, DVD-R is a lot mroe compatible than +R, test this theory by trying to play a DVD+R in an older DVD Drive or in version 1,2,3 Sony PS2's. It wont work.

Secondly, im not sure where you got your information on the dyes, but it is also gravely mistaken. Dye hasnt got anything to do with the actual format differences, it is related to compatiblity though. The most compatible dye, after the Pioneer's own dye, is the Ritek G04, found commonly on many top quality Ritek discs. Thats fact not fiction. Also, the new R03 dye for the 8x Riteks will be a very compatbile dye also, it IS a DVD+R dye.

I would recommend the NEC 2500A (8X). This is my 3rd DVD burner and I love it. When I use Memorex 4X DVD+R it burns at 6x and video quality is very high. This drive is also cheap cause I got it for $95 from www.mwave.com
