OK--have always burned at 4X or whatever. Bought some 8X today and all my burns fail right away. My Plextor shows it can burn at 8X (At least for CD-R) but I would think it could for DVD+R's also--am I right?

Or is it the Memorex I bought that is too cheap? They are not on the list for compatible discs but neither is Imation and they have been burning fine for a year (at 4X).

I did a firmware upgrade. Do I have to go somewhere to tell the burner to burn at 8X?

I'm so frickin iliterate on computers I hate it!

What DVD Recorder brand/model # do you have.

It could also be the media memorex or Imation is a hit or miss media when it comes to being consistent on quility.

I would stick with burrning at 4x anyway. I never burn faster then 4x. The only positive you will get burning at 8x is it is quicker. But more of a chance the disc will be unplayable or alot of disc read errors on it.

I used to be guility of using cheap media. I would use Imation alot because of the price. I finaly got tired of issues I had with them. They where not consistently making good burns.

I finely took the advice of all the members on here about media quility and looked on the net and found some good priced Taiyo Yuden DVD Media that where only $10 more then the imations I got at Wal-mart.

I have never looked back since. Been using them with 100% compatiblity on any DVD player or Game system I use them on. So save the time and agervation and look for good quility media other then the media you have been using. Incase your interested I will post the link to the site I get my TY's from.
