After reading many posts in this forum, it appears that you can not go wrong with a plextor drive. My question is, what if any differance would you see with a drive with 8mb of cache versus 2mb? My present Sony DW-U10a, while a dynosaur has worked just fine, So is the differance in price between the Plextor 716 and 740 really worth it? I'm don't burn alot and walking off and letting the computer is not a problem for me. So if there is no increase in quality I guess its a no brainer.

    Thanks

The Plextor 740 is not a true Plextor Drive, it is made by another company for Plextor. I know this from helping others in this forum. It does not interface with all the PlexTools software settings, ie; Can not change DVD+R Book Type to DVD-ROM, very important if you backup your DVD Movies.
The Plextor 716, on the other hand, is a true Plextor drive and has a full interface with the PlexTools software, I have one and would recommend it over the 740 even though it cost more.
