I'm using nero recode 2 with all of the updates along with a plextor 716-AL drive. The problem that I'm having is that I can copy a few dvd's with no problems. Then I start having read and write errors. This is the second drive that I've had because the first on did the same thing and I returned it under warranty. Now the new one is doing the same thing. I have a dell optiplex GX280 with 2 gigs of memmory, a 40 and a 80 gig harddrive, a samsung rw drive, and I'm running win xp pro with all of the updates. Any suggestions as to why I keep having problems?
Many things can cause burn failures... 1. Burning too fast...try burning at 4X 2. Cheap media...stay away from Memorex and Imation, instead use a proven quality media such as Verbatim (made in Taiwan) or Sony, Fuji, and Maxell (made in Japan). 3. Make sure your firmware is up to date...current version for your 716 is 1.02 and can be found here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2086 Can you supply us with a burn log to look at?
