    Hello Guys,
I have bougth 2 plextor px-712 over the weekend. I read on some online forum and they got preety good reviews and that the reason
I went for it. However, I would like to know if there is anybody who actually owned the drive and like to comment about them.

Yujenh, the PX-712 are an older model but considered a workhorse drive ,i had one before i got my PX-716As and had over 4000 burns on the drive.

so i assume you got he drives used?

    thanks michaelp1
well, i had the px-716 and px-760 and thats part of the
reason i wanted to buy the older model as sort of collection
as i did with the benqs.
isnt it little annoying if you have to remenber the px712 does
the +r@8x and the -r@4x?? i am going to use it mostly to rip
and burn ocassionaly. The PX-716 is still main burner and I
just LOVED that baby. I felt like its worth every penny.

you're the man, i was wrong and blind man. the 4x is the speed for the rw. thanks for the correction because now i dont have to worry about which media to use. do you ever burn over 8x anyways??
most of the guru or expert suggest burning at 8x tops and some even
burn at 4x but i realy like to burn at 16x but not all the time and thats why i like the px716 so dearly. whats your though on burn speed?? by the way, do you happened to know why did plextor come out with px712 anyways?? because its not even 12x and its not really that much more advance then the px708. so what purpose does px712 serve??

    thanks

8x is the MAX i burn movie files its not worth the few seconds you save burning at 16x ,data and all is cool at 16x though . i burn DL media at 4x but all the SL i burn at 8x.

the PX-712A is an older model and isn't around anymore so your mixed up on your info there lol
