Plextor PX-716UF cannot burn 8.5 Gb Verbatim +R DL

    My new Plextor PX-716UF cannot burn 8.5 Gb Verbatim +R DL discs. I use Nero 6 (could this be the problem?) and if I try and burn anything above 5Gb I get the error message "Compilation will not fit onto disc". Then Nero refuses to proceed. I also tried burning 4.3Gb and Nero apparently did it, it also verified the data written ok, but the DVD is unreadable both on DVD players and PCs! Can anyone help? Could it be Nero? Is there another alternative program? I also tried burning 7Gb via the standard XP burning system (copying files onto the DVD icon), but that failed too. Thanks, Gabriele

    PS Plextor PX-716UF works fine with normal DVDs (all types)...

    What version of Nero 6 are you using. If you have not done all the updates, it won't burn to a DL, since the program came out before DL burners did.

    Thanks GrandpsBW, mine is 6.3.0.3, do you know whether I should upgrade? It does show 8.5 Gb in the bottom bar which fills up with data size...
