Hi hows it going. I'm a newbie and I desperately need help. I just bought a DVD burner and I've tried using 3 programs to burn DVD and they all FAILED!! It seems that they do rip into a temp folder but when it comes to writing them to the DVD+R It FAILS in the middle of the write process. I've used 1Click DVD Copy and DVD-Cloner 3 and NERO that came with the burner. But none of them seem to work. I already updated the drivers for the burner and I have no idea what to do now. The jumpers on the DVDRW drive are set to Master and on the regular dvd drive to slave. I got an error log from Nero, can anyone please help me. What do I need to do to get this working? --------------------------------------------------------------------- Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: File 'Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=4.71 (0002), size=45056 bytes, created 12/29/2005 5:16:50 PM ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 10/26/2004 8:35:32 AM Nero Version: 6.6.0.14 Internal Version: 6, 6, 0, 14d (Nero Express) Recorder: <DVDRW IDE 16X> Version: A190 - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.6.0.14 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI CD-ROM: <SONY DVD-ROM DDU1613 >Version: 9YS1 - HA 1 TA 1 - 6.6.0.14 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : IC35L120AVV207-0 atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: Off CdRomPeripheral : DVDRW IDE 16X atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : SONY DVD-ROM DDU1613 atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: On === CDRom-Device-Map === DVDRW IDE 16X E: CDRom0 SONY DVD-ROM DDU1613 D: CDRom1 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 40894464 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 255MB (261616kB) Free physical memory: 77MB (79444kB) Memory in use : 69 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 14.1.2006 UDF/ISO compilation 11:52:45 PM #1 Phase 112 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files reallocation started 11:52:45 PM #2 Phase 114 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files reallocation completed (no file modified) 11:52:45 PM #3 Text 0 File Isodoc.cpp, Line 6314 Iso document burn settings ------------------------------------------ Determine maximum speed : FALSE Simulate : FALSE Write : TRUE Finalize CD : TRUE Multisession : FALSE Burning mode : DAO Mode : 1 ISO Level : 1 (Max. of 11 = 8 + 3 char) Character set : ISO 9660 Joliet :FALSE Allow pathdepth more than 8 directories : FALSE Allow more than 255 characters in path : FALSE Write ISO9660 ;1 file extensions : TRUE 11:52:45 PM #4 Phase 111 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files sorted 11:52:45 PM #5 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 127 Reader running 11:52:45 PM #6 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 122 Writer DVDRW IDE 16X running 11:52:45 PM #7 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3297 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 11:52:45 PM #8 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3297 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 11:52:45 PM #9 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3230 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 11:52:45 PM #10 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 267 Last possible write address on media: 2295103 (510:01.28, 4482MB) Last address to be written: 1796543 (399:13.68, 3508MB) 11:52:45 PM #11 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 279 Write in overburning mode: NO (enabled: CD) 11:52:45 PM #12 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2433 Recorder: DVDRW IDE 16X, Media type: DVD+R Disc Manufacturer ID: CMC MAG, Media Type ID: E01, Product revision number: 0 Disc Application Code: 0, Extended Information Indicators: 3 11:52:45 PM #13 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 445 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= 11:52:45 PM #14 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 830 Setup items (after recorder preparation) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 () 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original disc pos #0 + 1796544 (1796544) = #1796544/399:13.69 relocatable, disc pos for caching/writing not required/ required, no patch infos -> TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048, config 0, wanted index0 0 blocks, length 1796544 blocks [DVDRW IDE 16X] -------------------------------------------------------------- 11:52:45 PM #15 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1043 Prepare recorder [DVDRW IDE 16X] for write in CUE-sheet-DAO DAO infos: ========== MCN: "" TOCType: 0x00; Thanks for helping me. I'm going to buy different DVD+r today. I'm uninstalling roxio I never use it. I also checked the movie I was triying to back up "The Fast and The Furious" and when I check the CD size on My Computer it sais its like 7.x gb. Do I need a dual layer dvd to burn it or can I use my regular 4.7gb dvd+r? Thanks again!
@cesarv4 Your going to need to use DVD Shrink, or Nero Recode 2 to knock that movie down to a DVD5. Or like you said, use a dual layer to burn and get everything with no compression. @colw Good job there! You got it all fixed for both of them in one post.
Thank you very much @colw and @MaxBurn for your help! I got new media and followed all the steps and everything went perfectly fine!!! Dual layer DVDs are much more expensive than I thought, if I use DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2, will the DVD quality change or is there like a side effect? Also, between those 2 programs, which one is better. And is it necessary for me to have DVD-Cloner 3? Thanks again guys for your help!
cesarv4 Glad you are back to burning. Recode and shrink are both good programs. I use shrink often, but sometimes use recode or CloneDVD2. If you use these programs, and select movie only, many times you get the movie with no compression, so you are not loosing any quality. Something has to give when you try to put 8GB on a 4GB disc. Most of the time you can't see any difference unless you have a huge TV, that tends to show defects more. I don't know what DVD Cloner 3 is, but DVD Cloner2 was a rip off of DVD shrink. I would add DVD Decrypter to my kit if i were you. It is still out there, just google for it. Shrink is not regularly updated, but recode 2 is. I have heard recode 2 encodes faster than shrink, but i haven't noticed a big difference.
