    Infinity can boot PS2 backups, but homebrew version has to be flashed. Ive never done it, but apparantly you save flash onto CDROM insert disc into PS2 and follow on screen instructions.

    yup the matrix is the best and it will play backups and to upgrade your firmware you just burn the iso from the matrx site to a cd-r stick in your ps2, press x, and it deletes the old firmware and installs the new stuff.
